Product Overview (JLR OEM‑Spec Head‑Up Display Retrofit)

Head‑Up Display (HUD) is a premium OEM driver‑information retrofit for DOIP‑architecture JLR Defender L663 vehicles. Many mid‑trim L663 models leave the factory without this option. Drivers must glance down toward the instrument cluster to read vehicle speed, navigation prompts and ADAS warnings. This complete retrofit installs genuine JLR HUD hardware to project key data directly onto the windscreen.

This upgrade is not software‑only activation. It needs physical projector unit installation, dedicated harness routing and a HUD‑optimised windscreen with internal wedge‑film layer. Professional jlrcoding DOIP diagnostics, CCF configuration and mandatory HUD projection‑geometry calibration are required. Correct setup unlocks native HUD adjustment menus inside the Pivi Pro touch‑screen.

HUD Hardware & Operating Logic

The retrofit kit includes OEM full‑colour HUD projector assembly, mounting bracket and vehicle‑specific wiring harness. A HUD‑compatible windscreen is mandatory. Standard glass cannot reflect the projected virtual image correctly.

The HUD projector receives real‑time data over CAN‑FD bus from IDCM instrument module, Pivi Pro infotainment and ADAS ECUs. It projects adjustable content such as road speed, navigation turn guidance, incoming call notifications and driver‑assistance alerts onto the windscreen. Drivers adjust brightness, vertical position and display content from factory infotainment menus.

Basic hardware power‑up will not produce usable projected output. Full menu visibility and stable image positioning stay disabled until module coding and geometry calibration complete.

Vehicle Eligibility & Technical Pre‑Conditions

This Head‑Up Display retrofit fits 2020‑onwards Defender L663 90, 110 and 130 chassis. Submit your VIN number to jlrcoding first for pre‑retrofit hardware compatibility validation. Our technicians run a full DOIP pre‑scan before any dashboard trim or windscreen removal work.

Mechanical work includes dashboard top‑pad removal, secure HUD projector mounting, harness routing and HUD‑grade windscreen fitment. After hardware fit‑out finishes, our team backs‑up your original CCF file. We enable HUD feature flags and run official HUD projection‑geometry calibration routines.

You can arrange local physical fitting paired with our global remote coding service. Remote sessions require a DOIP‑VCI or Enet Type‑C cable following jlrcoding standard remote‑service workflow.
