What Is the Digital Drivers Display – MY23+?

The Digital Drivers Display – MY23+ is the factory‑specified 12.3‑inch TFT instrument cluster introduced on Jaguar & Land Rover vehicles from model‑year 2023 onward. It replaces the analog gauges with a fully configurable digital layout (speed, RPM, fuel, navigation, ADAS alerts, etc.) and integrates directly into the vehicle’s CAN‑bus architecture.

OEM part number: JPLA‑22I043‑BP. The module is calibrated at the factory to JLR’s “Speed‑Law” algorithm and includes a built‑in ambient‑light sensor for automatic brightness control.

Wiring & CAN‑Bus Integration

The Digital Drivers Display receives power and data through the steering‑column harness. The key signals are:

All signals are protected by a 2 A fuse (F210) at the Body Control Module (BCM) fuse block. The cluster must be grounded to the steering‑column chassis bracket to meet EMI requirements.

Calibration & Programming (TOPIx Workflow)

1️⃣ Preparation
  • Park the vehicle, engage the hand‑brake and turn the ignition to “ON”.
  • Connect a 70 A + battery maintainer to keep voltage stable.
  • Insert a certified JLR Enet Wi‑Fi adapter into the OBD‑II port.
  • Launch TOPIx on a laptop with internet access; log in with engineering credentials.
2️⃣ Read Existing CCF
  1. Select Vehicle → Identify → Instrument Cluster (IC) and click “Read CCF”.
  2. Locate the flag DigitalClusterEnabled. In a non‑MY23+ build it will be 0.
3️⃣ Enable the MY23+ Cluster
  1. Change DigitalClusterEnabled to 1.
  2. Save the edited CCF and press **Write CCF** – TOPIx automatically recalculates the checksum.
  3. After a successful write, run IC → Self‑Test → Display to verify communication.
4️⃣ Calibration of Speed‑Law & Ambient Light
  • Open IC → Calibration → Speed‑Law and run the “Speed‑Law Wizard”. The wizard reads wheel‑speed sensors via CAN‑FD and updates the lookup tables.
  • Run IC → Calibration → Ambient Light to map the LIN‑bus sensor to the brightness curve (0 %‑100 %).
  • Confirm the final test: the digital speedometer should display the exact speed reported by the vehicle’s ABS module (± 0.5 km/h).
5️⃣ Final Validation
  • Power‑cycle the vehicle (IGN OFF → ON) and check that the cluster boots without error messages.
  • Run a quick “All Systems OK” scan in TOPIx – any DTCs such as C0A30‑96 – Digital Cluster Plausibility must be cleared.
  • Record the new CCF checksum and date in the service log as proof of a factory‑approved calibration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a MY22 vehicle be upgraded to the Digital Drivers Display – MY23+?

Yes, provided the vehicle’s BCM contains the “DigitalClusterEnabled” flag (it is present on all 2022‑2025 platforms). After installing the hardware, the TOPIx enable‑and‑calibration steps must be performed.

Will the new cluster affect fuel consumption?

The display draws a maximum of 1.8 A (≈ 22 W). When the vehicle is off the BCM removes power, so there is no measurable impact on fuel consumption.

Is the cluster covered by JLR warranty?

When installed with the correct TOPIx calibration, the Digital Drivers Display enjoys the standard 12‑month/12 000 km warranty. Keep the calibration checksum as evidence of proper installation.

What DTC indicates a cluster fault?

The primary fault is C0A30‑96 – Digital Cluster Plausibility. After re‑enabling the cluster and confirming the speed‑law calibration, the code can be cleared.
