The Activity Key Gen 2 is JLR’s second-generation factory wearable access device, redesigned to upgrade the original Gen 1 passive key system. It delivers enhanced smart functionality for modern Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Unlike the battery-free Gen 1 model, this revised variant adds rechargeable operation and integrated smart features. It eliminates the need to carry bulky traditional key fobs during outdoor, off-road and water-based activities. Furthermore, it adheres to official JLR security and electrical standards for fully compliant daily road use.
JLR Official Gen 2 Technical Specifications
Activity Key Gen 2 features a rugged IP67 waterproof and shockproof build for all-weather durability. It supports temporary water submersion and full dust protection to suit harsh outdoor environments. Notably, this second-gen unit integrates a built-in LCD time display, a key feature absent from the original version. It operates on JLR’s encrypted 434MHz RFID protocol to match factory vehicle immobiliser communication.
In addition, the Gen 2 model adopts a rechargeable internal battery design. It delivers up to seven days of battery life on a single full charge. Users can recharge the device via dedicated in-vehicle USB charging for convenient top-ups during regular journeys. Most importantly, it supports full vehicle operational functionality. It locks, unlocks and fully starts the vehicle without requiring the primary smart key fob inside the cabin.
